The One Question That Can Change Everything in Your Business

What if there were just one question that could unlock the thing you’ve been avoiding, the one thing you know would move your business forward and change your business mindset?
The thing that would bring in more income, more ease, and more impact.
It’s rarely a mystery what that thing is. You probably already know it.
Maybe it’s finally raising your prices so your work reflects its real value.
Perhaps it’s launching a membership or group offer that’s been sitting on your whiteboard for months.
It might be creating that new lead magnet, showing up more consistently online, or emailing your list instead of telling yourself you’ll “get around to it.”
Each of these actions has the potential to open new doors, to bring in more clients, more confidence, and more momentum.
And yet, as the moment to take that step draws closer, something often gets in the way.
The Voice That Sounds Sensible… But Isn’t
It usually starts quietly.
That small, familiar voice that says things like:
- “Who am I to do this?”
- “Maybe I’m not quite ready yet.”
- “I’ll do it when I’ve got more testimonials/time/confidence/followers.”
You know that voice. We all do.
It sounds logical, even protective. It tells you it’s being sensible, waiting for the right time. But if you’ve ever followed its advice, you’ll know that “right time” never actually comes.
Here’s the truth: that voice isn’t your intuition, it’s your protection mechanism.
It’s trying to keep you safe from risk, rejection, or failure. But safety and growth don’t live in the same place.
That voice doesn’t want you to fail, but it also doesn’t want you to expand.
The Question That Can Shift Everything
When I’m coaching business owners who are stuck in this loop, there’s one question I always ask:
“Is it true?”
It might sound almost too simple, but that’s the point.
I ask my clients to write down every single blocker, fear, or reason they have for not taking action. Then, next to each one, write: Is it true?
Here’s what usually happens.
They’ll say things like:
“People won’t pay more at that price point.”
“I need to have a bigger audience first.”
“I can’t raise my rates until I’ve created a course.”
And when we pause and ask, Is it actually true?, they often realise it isn’t.
Most of the time, what they believe is not a fact, it’s a story.
A story shaped by old experiences, outdated beliefs, and fear dressed up as logic.
Stories That Keep You Stuck
These stories often sound completely reasonable:
- “Once I’ve taken one more course…”
- “When my website’s perfect…”
- “When I’ve got more followers…”
They sound strategic, but they’re often just self-doubt in disguise.
They come from earlier versions of ourselves, the ones who didn’t yet know how capable we were. But you’re not that person anymore.
When you recognise that, the energy shifts.
What felt impossible starts to feel inevitable.
Try This Mindset Exercise
If you’re feeling that invisible ceiling in your business right now, that subtle resistance that keeps you circling the same ideas, try this exercise:
- Write down the blocker that keeps showing up.
It might be “I can’t raise my prices because people won’t pay that,” or “I’m not ready to launch yet.” - Ask yourself: Is it true?
Not “does it feel true?” because feelings often echo old stories. Ask for evidence. - Look for proof both ways.
Has anyone actually said they wouldn’t pay more? Do you know other people charging that price successfully? - Ask: What would be possible if I stopped believing this story?
Imagine the version of you who doesn’t hold that belief. What action would they take today?
You might find that a single false belief has been standing between you and your next opportunity.
Growth Comes From Truth, Not Tactics
Your next big leap, whether it’s raising your prices, refining your positioning, or stepping onto bigger stages, doesn’t start with another strategy or tool.
It starts with a single decision: to separate truth from story.
When you stop believing every thought your mind offers, you create space for new possibilities.
You stop waiting for permission.
You start leading from clarity, not fear.
That’s when things begin to move, not because you’ve found a secret formula, but because you’ve removed the invisible weight holding you back.
Your Next Breakthrough
Your next breakthrough won’t come from doing more.
It will come from seeing more clearly.
It will come from questioning the quiet beliefs that have shaped your decisions without you even realising.
So before you invest in another programme, hire another strategist, or redesign your website again, pause and ask yourself:
“What’s the story that’s keeping me where I am right now?”
Because once you see that story for what it is, you’ll have everything you need to take your next big step.
If this resonated with you, and you’re ready to uncover the stories holding you back from growth, book a clarity call with me.
